Berlin Haupbahnhof or Berlin Central Station

The main railways station of Berlin is also the biggest railway station in Germany and the biggest crossing train station in Europe.
Recently renovated, it opened to public on 2006, and nowadays is the largest two-floor Station in Europe. Prior to renovation, it was just a stop in the Berlin S-Bahn suburban railway (
Lehrter Bahnhof, Lehrte Station, which had been constructed in the late 1800's).

As a modern european central station, it is the principal passenger railway station of cities which have multiple stations. The central station functions as the main transport hub for rail transport, normally with interchange with other modes of public transport. Certain services, such as intercity of high-speed routes make their only stop in the city at the central station, while commuter services may serve all stations in the city. A central station may be a terminal station, with all services ending at the station, or may permit through services.
